RIP John Hughes. In honor of the master of the teen movie, what is your favorite teen flick?

My answer: Oh wow..I’m still surprised he died I’d still have to go with the breakfast club that’s just a classic teen film that my friends and I loved and that was kind of our thing in high school. (I got the criminal XD)

I’m leaving the reviews here but i’m not going to add new ones to this blog.

There’s no point and I’ve just been putting off writing down anything for a while.

howl’s moving castle:

pg: 10 and up

animation - 10, characters - 9, plot - 9, enjoyment - 9 - 9

plot: A plain young hatter named Sophie has her life changed when an evil witch transforms her into an old woman. Unable to face her family in such a condition, Sophie runs away in search of a way to become young again. Along the way, Sophie helps a turnip headed scarecrow, who repays her by leading her to the moving castle owned by the dreaded wizard Howl. There she befriends Howl’s apprentice Markl, Howl’s fire demon Calcifer, and eventually, Howl himself. Sophie then becomes the castle’s cleaning lady in an effort to not only find the solution to her problem but to save Howl from his own terrible secrets as well.

my review: a strong example of how miyazaki’s movies are beautifully done; great animation and a great story for all ages

why you wouldn’t like it:  the story is incomplete and largely uneventful. It seems to rely heavily on typical magical “Ghibli” atmosphere, which does NOT, in fact, carry the story. The perceived antagonist is not confronted (meeting her is not a confrontation). Just when one thinks the plot is building up, it ends. So saying this is horrible is not an exaggeration. One does not have to have a “Ghibli background” to recognize how poorly done this story is. <- a comment taken from anidb.net

so afo turned out to be amazing this year as usual
my only complaint was the line set up of the opening ceremonies line
but yeah we arrived at 1:30 stood in a line to pay for tickets

at 2:30 we went to the one piece panel which i thought was boring but tyler found interesting; they didn’t give any really new news and halfway through the guests and everyone else started to chatter

after that we went into the dealer’s room; tyler got a bleach necklace (tried to do a search and couldn’t find it) which was something cool he found for 6 dollars and i bought a knuckles fleece cap for 17 dollars , some strawberry ramune and mitsuya cider that one of the dealers said was very good (I just didn’t have the taste for it i guess)
and then the crowning achievement of the night: dissidia trading figures come in a box and you have to choose by random so you never know what character you’re going to get. Paid 15 dollars for it and this is the final result: <- cloud a very very detailed modern version of him it’s beautiful
*That was the one i had really really wanted and i got him on the 1st try
so naturally like the fan I am..I started to carry him around all over the place i was quite happy.

We came back at around 3:30 to 4 pm one of the panels that I wanted to see canceled unexpectantly which was fine
went back into the dealers’ room later on and got strawberry kit-kats (50 cents they were minis) and man are they super good ><’ my friend was right ha ha
4:30: dragonball z abridged series with commentary from the voice of piccolo it was basically all of the abridged episodes and it didn’t even need commentary because it was funny by itself and wheldon’s such a great host.

After that we went to get food for a little bit came back and saw a bit of the japanese study panel which i didn’t stay in there at all because I found the guy who did it quite boring he didn’t even try to spice it up.

Stood in line for a while for the opening ceremonies went to that at 7 pm.. (nothing new with that except the rpg they do every year which i gather experience coins for but never turn in because i like the coins a lot)

After that we went to see the weakest geek 2.0 which was its final year because the host was leaving (wheldon) (sadness I’ve only seen him for 2 years and I think he’s one of those rare individuals that has such passion)

I got into the game as soon as other people started playing
didn’t get out of there till 10 or so but i did get a experience coin
and a figure from the box which turns out to be one of the aliens from independence day (luckily I’m super small and stealthy and can do things no one would dare attempt XD).

(Stayed for 10 hours I’d say hurray for AFO i hope and pray there will be more years)

best cosplay: a full figured raichu which naturally i had to hug everytime i saw it because i love raichu he had the glowing cheeks and everything
worst cosplay: someone dressed up as lillymon when i say someone i mean a person who shouldn’t have dressed up as lillymon

magical mystery mall:

rating: G (all ages) (nothing objectionable)

plot: Mary-Kate and Ashley’s Magical Mystery Mall is a video game that stars actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It was produced by Dualstar Interactive for the PlayStation system in 2000 and it forms part of a varied line of things that have been produced with The Olsen twins’s names on them.
my review: forgive me I was actually in love with this game when I was a teenager and now if you were to show me this game I’d probably be like eh; it actually had some fun elements for example dressing up the girls was probably my favorite part. It’s an easy victory and one you might not want to admit to - 3/5

why you wouldn’t like it: the game is not very challenging and doesn’t introduce anything new in fact it’s made for girls and in that sense only girls would find enjoyment..Some of the minigames I found challenging when I was young which was why I never really played them or cared for them; also the 3d models are really chunky which is to be expected it’s a ps game

Tenchi Muyo Mihoshi Special: animation - 8, plot - 8, characters - 8, enjoyment - 8; 8

rated: PG (for bloodless violence and bad language)

plot: Mihoshi tells a story of her most famous mission with the Galaxy Police and casts all of the Tenchi Muyo characters, against their will, in it.

my review: the special focuses on mihoshi and kiyone which weren’t my favorite characters so it kind of paled in comparison to the series but it’s still an enjoyable special

why you wouldn’t like it: honestly if you weren’t a fan of tenchi then this might not be in your style
