azumanga daioh: animation - 10, characters - 10, plot - 10, enjoyment - 10 - 10 -

(teenagers 13 and up: mild bad language, bloodless violence and subject matter)

summary: Azumanga Daioh is about high school life through the eyes of six girls with unusual personalities: Chiyo (the 10-year-old genius), Osaka (the resident airhead), Sakaki (the shy one prone to cat bites), Tomo (the loose cannon), Yomi (the short-tempered one) and Kagura (the resident jock).

my review: i love azumanga daioh it’s such a cute and random anime and I like cute and random things I find chiyo to be adorable and osaka to be so weird and i luff her

reason why you wouldn’t get into this series: it’s random also if you can’t relate to the characters. It’s also a different kind of slice and life and sometimes it can seem repetitive; also character description can be vague but this is where the manga comes in kind of.. Also 26 episodes is a long time to spend on any anime.

psychic powers = epic!

pokemon movie 8: lucario and the mystery of mew

animation - 10, characters  - 8, plot - 9, enjoyment - 8 - 8

rating: G (all ages)

plot summary:  In the town of Lohta, a festival is thrown praising “Aaron the Wave Leader Hero” who, according to the legend passed down through the town’s generations, stopped a war centuries ago by using the power of “the Tree of the World’s Origin.” Satoshi and Pikachu participate in a battle to decide this year’s hero and after their victory, they are chosen as the “Wave Leader Hero.” A grand dance party is held in the castle to celebrate the victor, but suddenly the phantom Pokemon Mew appears and takes Pikachu. Soon afterwards, the Wave Leader Pokemon “Lucario” is freed from his centuries-long seal and meets Satoshi. Satoshi must solve the various mysteries of where Pikachu is, what Mew’s after, what the secret of the legend of the Wave Leader is and how it ties in with Lucario’s hidden past as he makes his way to “the Tree of the World’s Origin” with Lucario.

my review:  i like mew i think this is such a cute movie for pokemon fans to watch and introduces lucario the epic psychic pokemon that will change the way we look at pokemon forever. It’s a good idea to watch some episodes of pokemon advanced generation before watching this otherwise you’ll notice some slight changes.

who wouldn’t like it: if you gave up on the pokemon franchise a long time ago then you will probably not like it.

Sailor Moon says..that this is a classic regardless

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

sailor moon the 1st season: animation - 7, characters - 9, plot - 7, enjoyment - 7 - a flat 7

rating: all ages for dubbed version there is nothing at all offensive but in the Japanese version you can find some mild bad language and bloodless violence so this would be PG

my review: I do love sailor moon but the 1st season was so horrible that i have to give it this bad grade; the 1st season’s animation is like wtf while the characters are unique honestly it’s probably the only reason to get hooked to the franchise; I fell in love with Usagi I felt like she was the only character that developed during the season.   The plot is the monster of the day formula which was fine when you’re young but as it gets old it’s cliche; the manga is a lot better. And you don’t have to watch all the episodes to get the hang of this series in all honesty

why you might not like this show: because the dubbing might turn you off plain and simple; also if you can’t relate to any of the characters then you won’t get into the show.

they realize they can’t play their instruments right?

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

k-on: animation - 7, characters - 7, story - 8, enjoyment - 8 - 7 -

(since this is based around high school girls i’m guessing the rating should be around 13+)

plot:   Adaption of Kakifly’s Seinen Yonkoma manga series K-ON! (pronounced “kei on”). The story about four high school girls that try to sustain their school’s popular music club despite being unable to read music or play instruments has been serialized in Manga Time Kirara magazine since 2007.

my review: I’m not used to this animation it looks rough to me, characters remind me a lot of haruhi which isn’t a bad thing it’s just hard to branch out from that; it’s a drama maybe the manga is better because in the anime i can’t relate to anyone really, this doesn’t seem like the anime for me but instead a light drama series that i won’t get into, good news is it’ll be about 13 episodes long meaning a normal tv show length.

tales of eternia: what is this stuff?

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

tales of eternia: animation - 3, plot - 3, characters - 3, enjoyment - 3 - 3: rating: older children (10+)  (for bloodless violence and mild bad language)

Summary: In order to prevent the catastrophe called the Grand Fall, Rid Hershel and his companions Farah, Keel and Meredy have obtained the three Greater Spirits (”Craymels” in the game version) of Inferia. En route to Mount Farlos, Rid is kidnapped by the bounty hunter Marone Blucarno, and the party is compelled to head to Belcarnu, an archipelago far from the major cities of Inferia. A series of adventures forces them to remain on the islands, where a more immediate threat to Inferia sleeps

my review: I don’t like tales of eternia i have never liked it ever since they released the game as tales of destiny 2 in America due to copyright issues naturally i am not interested in the anime sorry. If you’re a big tales fan; then you will def love this anime. No questions asked and it’s production IG animation. It’s also awesomely 13 episodes so it’s pretty short

pretty witchy kel-ichi!

Ojamajo doremi: animation - 10, characters - 10, story - 10, enjoyment - 10; 10

The rating is all ages (nothing objective) in fact it’s a great anime to get girls into at a kind of early age because these characters are very diverse

plot: Doremi refers to herself as the “unluckiest bishoujo in the world”. Her little sister that treats her like a child, her parents that fight almost every day and her crush is in love with another girl. Doremi aspires to become a witch, hoping that magic can solve all her problems. Doremi then finds a real witch, but after calling the witch out the witch is transformed into a green blob incapable of using magic. Blaming Doremi for the incident, the witch takes Doremi as an apprentice, hoping that despite Doremi’s constant misuse of magic Doremi will become a witch someday. Doremi then recruits her two best friends as witch apprentices, and together they aim to pass the witch exams and become full fledged witches.

my review:  I must admit I thought at first I would find this childish instead it was a very welcome breath of fresh air because it kind of holds the spirit of shoujo in a way. The 47 episode length doesn’t feel like 47 episodes; and i must admit these girls get into your heart big time; the only character i really didn’t like was Onpu. Because i felt like her character didn’t develop enough

7 minutes per episode?

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

keitai shoujo: animation - 4, plot - 5, characters - 4, enjoyment - 5 - 4 -

There are some objective scenes I’d say from the screenshots in all; Teens 13 and up is probably the right age for it since it is a harem

plot:  Each episode features a different girl, doing different things in their normal days. The only similarities between the episodes is that every girl uses their mobile phones and that Hiro is always around and sees the girls.

my review: is a tame harem type anime; here is the problem every episode is only 7 minutes long meaning no character development whatsoever except for the episodes themselves..It just doesn’t add up and I guess i really wanted to see if i would actually enjoy it which this is a no by the 1st four episodes I was bored to tears

edit to earth hour 8:30 to 9:30 pm

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

I lost the other survey because i deleted the post entirely, so i  am making up for it now with a review for the 28th and 29th.

hatenkou yugi (teens 13 and up: there was one episode that made me raise the age a bit): animation - 8, characters - 7, story - 7, enjoyment - 9; 7

plot:  A young girl named Rahzel is booted out of her house one day by her father with the instructions to ’see the world.’ And so her journey begins, However, she won’t be doing it alone … for she befriends a stoic young man named Alzeido seeking revenge for his father’s murder. Alzeido and Rahzel are like oil and water … but even still, they feel strangely drawn to one another. This could be either the result of an underlying attraction — or their shared powers with magic. And so, the two reluctant allies travel from town to town, using their powers to help the helpless, while discovering their own respective places in the world.

Plot: by the 1st episode I was intrigued which usually happens when i get into something; the characters are pretty cliche for the most part but have depth to them; Heat seems to remind me a lot of Gene from outlaw star he’s definitly one of those characters i cling to just like Razhel who reminds me that girls can kick butt too; this is considered to be a shoujo anime and the opening theme gets kind of catchy after you watch all the episodes also i must add not for the faint of heart. The bad part is i feel like 10 episodes is not memorable for a series and reconmend the manga just because i heard it was better before watching the anime. Also by the last few episodes I felt like the anime had really run its course and went slower

because yes the series air needed a movie

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

but did it need a movie like this? I didn’t think so

air the movie: animation - 8, characters - 6, story -7, enjoyment-6; 6

age rating: 13 and up since it’s for teens there’s violence, nudity and some foul language)

plot summary: A long time ago, a winged maiden was held prisoner in a castle - cursed never to experience love, lest she die. Centuries later, in a sleepy coastal town, a young girl relives this agony.

my review:   a retelling of the series pretty much i’d reconmend it if you’ve seen air first this touches more on the romance that was lost in the anime series. I didn’t like Misuzu’s change there was nothing really wrong with her and this one just sees more perky, it’s kind of a bother and i don’t like the way ryuuha looks, yukito is kind of emo and not in a good way. The animation is fresh but it doesn’t give the same feeling as the tv series; i really didn’t like it and it also seems like it drones on at some parts.

there are certain anime that will make you cry and think.

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

Air tv is one of them; I thought i had prepared myself but by the end i did cry; i can’t even finish the manga to this day because i think it’ll be so heartbreaking

air tv: animation - 9, characters - 7, story - 9, enjoyment -8; 8

(this is going to have a PG rating to be honest i can’t see anything that offensive besides swearing)

plot:  Yukito Kunisaki is on a journey, seeking a girl with wings who flies in the sky, as mentioned in a childhood tale. During this journey, he settles down in a small town, trying to make some money. There, he meets a strange girl named Misuzu. Misuzu quickly makes Yukito her friend and invites him to stay with her. Yukito decides to stay in the small town, and continue searching for the winged girl his mother had searched for in her life.

my review:   my first impression of it was oh it’s gonna make me cry, Misuzu is cute you can’t help but fall in love with her but I am against dramas of any kind and I know is some kind of drama; it’s also slow to me it didn’t reach breaking point till episode 3 and even then it was a struggle to keep watching it, I must admit i did cry it’s hard not to. I don’t really feel anything for the other characters i mean i cry when bad things happen but it’s hard to fall in love with the characters mainly because you’ll only get to know them a short time..If you’re looking for a complex story it doesn’t get any more complex than this. Bishoujo fans will love this no doubt about it.
