this is probably one of the most recognized anime works

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

spirited away: animation - 10, plot - 10, characters - 10, enjoyment - 10 - 10:

rated: all ages

My review: What hasn’t been said about spirited away; the cg with the animation flows beautifully; the storyline is timeless and even the characters have goodness..This movie to me is a classic that deserves all the praise it got it’s just so good..

why you wouldn’t like it: there is little to no character development which you can kind of regard

Death is never a pleasant experience

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

a night on the galactic railroad: animation is a very nice old school 8, plot is about a 6, characters - all you’re ever really introduced to is giovanni and his school-mates 6, enjoyment - 7 - 6

age rating: PG older children 10 and up (mild subject content)

plot:  Two kittens go on a metaphysical journey on a magical railroad train

my review: the theme played throughout the film is hauntingly beautiful, it’s considered an anime classic that being said i’m allowed now to share some of the weak points, I’ve been wanting to see this a while, don’t think it’ll get very exciting

why you would like it: you need to have some patience to get anything out of it otherwise you’ll find it like i did completely slow

sometimes dreams get too real

sailor moon super s: animation - 10, plot - 10, characters - 10, enjoyment - 9 - 9

(rating 10 and up)(may contain bad language and bloodless violence)

plot:  Everywhere around the world, the children sleep. Unaware of danger lurking in the shadows. But tonight, a strange darkness floats in the wind. And the children, one by one, begin to disappear. It seems to be a supernatural force that feeds on their dreams. The evil queen, Badiyanu, and her loyal fairies assist in using the “Black Dream Hole” to swallow the earth. It is up to Sailor Moon and the Sailor Soldiers to prevent the approaching Darkness.

my review: I did like this even if it was focused on Chibiusa it made it seem like she was a person too who was growing up rather than an annoyance

why you wouldn’t like it: a lot of people say it’s the same plot as super s; it depends on if you like chibiusa; some other reviewers have said it has a cliche plot and what you would come to expect from a sailor moon movie..You might also find it confusing in which case go read the manga because it is better

honestly looking up reviews as to why this is good is really hard

final fantasy the spirits within:

animation - 1, characters - 1, plot - 1, enjoyment - 1;

rating: pg-13 (because i’m sure only teenagers will understand the plot guaranteed)

my review: yeah you know how final fantasy is an epic series well when it converts to a movie form it turns into this yeah we’re sorry

why you would like this: despite all the bad qualities about the movie you have to treat this as a normal sci-fi movie in order to get enjoyment out of it which is hard due to its namesake; it has some good qualities

despite my digimon fangirlness i didn’t like this

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

digimon movie 4 diablomon strikes back: animation - 6, plot - 7, characters - 4, enjoyment - 7 - 6 -

rating: 10 and up? (There’s some mindless violence)

plot: Diablomon was not destroyed by Omegamon. He revived, and is sending Kuramon into the real world. And he is sending personal pictures of Yamato and Taichi on the internet. Taichi and Yamato head back to the Internet to deal with him with Omegamon, while the younger Chosen Children go to deal with the rampage of a swarm of Kuramon. With the help of Angemon and Angewomon with Takeru and Hikari, Omegamon was able to destroy Diaboromon again. But it turned out to be a trap, as his destruction allowed many more Kuramon to go to the real world. Things go out of control when the Kuramon in the real world merge to create a Ultimate level called Armagemon, an alternate Ultimate in Diablomon’s evolutionary line. It is so powerful that neither Omegamon or Imperial Dramon were able to defeat it on their own.

my review: I’m pretty sure i saw this before i don’t remember where, i remember the animation was quite different, the characters hadn’t changed since the 2nd season and i was sad because of that, i ask you who wouldn’t want a cute diablomon jellyfish? The sad thing is that it’s probably better to watch the combined movies rather than waste time with this

why you would like this: it’s definitely reconmended for kids; to be honest it’s okay if you watch this but it’s not necessary

all you need is love..

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

voices of a distant star:animation - 10, characters - 10, plot - 10, enjoyment - 10 - 10

Older Children (May contain mild bad language, bloodless violence)(10 and up please)

A female mecha pilot tries to keep in touch with her boyfriend on earth while she is in space using cell phone text messages. The farther away they get from each other, the harder it is for the text messages to get to each other. I have yet to read the manga but i heard it was a lot longer and better

my review: a beautiful animation this one will make you cry and love it but the characters aren’t introduced very well and it’s sad, classic animation ova..I’ve been told the manga is longer though i haven’t been able to read it myself also the ending theme is probably one of the best sang in English. Once  you get into it you’ll be in tears.

why you wouldn’t like this: it’s way too short at only 30 minutes and leaves too many things unexplained; the animation can be considered cheap you have to think the director did all of this on a budget. Also I’d suggest staying away if you’re not into the love aspect as this is a love story first and foremost.

this has nothing to do with mechas

Gokujou!! Mecha Mote Iinchou: animation - 1, plot - 6, characters - 8, enjoyment - 5 - 5 -

rating: all ages (I didn’t see anything objectable)

plot: A kind girl is the well-known chairman. Everything goes easily for her, except for one problem, and that’s the class troubled-boy trio that can’t seem to follow the rules. Now she must handle this rebellious group who can’t seem to stay out of trouble.

my review: sadly this is a childish version of utena to me; the cg animation is used way too often making the animation seem 3d at times but i did think the characters are charming

why you would like this: if you’re a fan of shoujo and can get past the animation then yes you will probably like it

this is what you get for believing cats can talk.

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

the cat returns: animation - 10, plot - 10, characters - 10, enjoyment - 10 -
rating: all ages

the cat returns online 2 Pictures, Images and Photos

plot: Haru-chan, a normal girl in a normal town, saves a strange cat carrying a present from being overrun by a truck. In return she’s going to receive lots of favors, including marriage to the crown prince of Cat Kingdom. As she finds that a bit too much, she gets into contact with the Cat Business Office. Together with CBO’s owner, the Baron, she enters the Cat Kingdom to try and prevent her from getting married.

my review: another anime classic by studio ghilbi if you liked a lot of the other movies you will love this

why you wouldn’t like it: it may be slow and boring to you; it’s also has a silly plot and could be called the weakest of studio ghilbis works; it’s also a spinoff of whisper of the heart.

i can’t describe this without crying

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

grave of the fireflies: animation - 10, characters - 10, plot - 10, enjoyment - 10 - 10

Older Children 10 and up (May contain mild bad language, bloodless violence)

summary:  On the final days of World War II, 14-year-old Seita and his four-year-old sister Setsuko are orphaned after their mother is killed during an air-raid by American forces in Kobe, Japan. After having a falling-out with their aunt, they move into an abandoned bomb shelter. With no surviving relatives and their emergency funds and rations depleted, Seita and Setsuko must struggle to survive their hardships as well as those of their country, which is on the losing end of the war.

my review: Another anime classic that any true anime fan should have seen; yay another one that’ll make you cry..There’s not really anymore I can say i fell madly in love with this anime at a young age and everyone is guranteed to do the same.

why you wouldn’t like it: apparently some reviwers have said that the emotions of the characters may seem fake..It’s also considered predictable because you know what’s going to happen

here is my detail on reviews and such.

by cross_star_luv:hellokitty.com

I never felt like I explained my reviews in general detail
I’ve added some new things I felt like explaining
so here is why i thought i would be suitable to review anime was because
according to anidb I’ve seen over 300 anime series (I’ve started watching anime since I was 11).
I’ve been reviewing them for a few years shortly after I was 13
I’ve had people say they like the reviews and find them helpful
I don’t do reconmendations personally unless you ask
I know the ins and outs but don’t expect me to be perfect.

The video games are kind of added while
I haven’t really beaten many video games
I’m pretty good at knowing which ones are worth the time and which aren’t..
One thing i will never do here is review manga;
i haven’t read enough of them to be good at it.
I also don’t read manga until i like a series or i like an author’s style.. (for example clamp and naoko takeuchi’s works i am planning on reading in the near future)

I added ratings to the reviews for one reason alone;
I figure most of the people who go on sanriotown are under a certain age limit
they’re guidelines basically to separate the more adult oriented reviews from the younger age reviews.
I’m also not very accurate with those because i usually follow ann’s ratings and I usually wind up figuring out they’re wrong most of the time.
One thing i can guarantee is that the anime i review from now on will be cut off for teens 13 and up. It’s pretty easy to determine an anime’s rating simply by the content refer to my myspace if you want to see more adult oriented reviews (if you can make it past the survey spam I swear I will fix that as soon as I find  another blogging site i’m comfortable with).

Lately I’ve added why someone wouldn’t be interested in this:
which is just a general point of view from other sides usually if the reviewers on anidb say something about it.
I usually try to put it in here; also my own opinions on why someone wouldn’t be into this.. I’ll try to expand to this since there are now live action movies to anime
