At the present moment, I do not have an embroidery machine so I must rely on hand-making my own Hello Kitty fabric crafts.

One way to do this is to cross-stitch on an aida clothe or sometimes called “monks clothe”. It sorta looks like a loosely woven linen but is smooth almost silky, not rough and itchy like linen can be.

Aida clothe comes in many colors (not just the typical white you see at craft stores), and can be found in quite a few material combinations, i.e. cotton, rayon, polyester, linen, flax, etc.  yorkshireweb2

This is a sample chart to give you an idea of the pretty colors you can chose from. Most beginners are not aware of that these clothes come in bold, pastels, rainbow, antique, and holiday colors. The possibilities are endless and hand-crafting is very much in vogue right now!

You can make anything from hand towels, baby bibs, bookmarks, bible verses, even personalize ready-made garments. Don’t be afraid of this project cause if you look at the diagram carefully you won’t have any trouble putting stitches in the right place!

Here’s a really cute Hello kitty cross-stitch pattern laid out on graph paper. Each little box represents a small square on your clothe. You need to put a single stitch in each square and just to make sure you’re doing it right, check the finished one below. Don’t skip around or leave spaces for later. And don’t try to blow it up to a bigger size. This will only cause more confusion. *beginners should only use aida and not evenweave or other cross-stitching materials; the aida weave is not as tight and stitches are easier to make*

The cross-stitch pattern above is the following image:

The K = charcoal grey or black

   The O = pink

   The Y = canary yellow

   The + = white

If you want to use a different color in the bow or peejays you can do that if you feel confident enough to make the change.

ALWAYS remember to make all your stitches go in the same direction. This is usually done by going in a diagonal manner from bottom left to top right. See instructions below.

How To Cross Stitch – Basic Method

Fig 1
This stitch is usually worked in horizontal rows, otherwise the thread will reflect light differently and appear to be a different shade of color.

Fig 2
Depending on the design, you may want to work one full stitch at a time, such when working scattered stitches.

Fig 3 & 4
Sometimes it is necessary to work vertically. This can be done in one of two ways.

n_howto_pop_crossstitch_3n_howto_pop_crossstitch_4

Your stitches can be worked from right to left / or left to right \ and the top stitch of the Cross can slope in either direction. But always remember that for best results, all stitching must lie in the same direction throughout the project for a neat finished appearance.

If you still feel you need help on getting started check out some video tutorials. You can find some easy instructions on clothe, threads and counting stitches!

I would like to see a way to instantly REPORT Bad Behavior in the Hello Kitty Online Game.

This can be accomplished by adding a “Report2GM” button to all players’ profiles. By clicking on it, players would be able to report anyone instantaneously when a person is doing something highly unethical, including harassment, threats, hate-talk, bashing, and possible solicitation.

Emailing or posting on message boards, trying to reach a GM or someone in charge, does not effectively address this problem and by the time you find someone to listen and respond to you, the offensive event or behavior has already come and gone!

This button would allow players to report another player to the GMs on duty, and the GMs would be able to access that individual’s chat to see proof of the offending or propositioning behavior or language.

This is not meant to take privacy away from players! It will merely enable GMs to protect the under-aged players and get rid of the “riff-raff” which I think is far more important than privacy. Besides, if folks feel compelled to discuss intimate things that need privacy, they can do so outside of the HKO realm on yahoo or msn messenger.

I would also like to see Prefects stationed in each town. A Prefect is a person appointed to any of various positions of command or authority. The Prefects can be selected from long-standing members with good reputation from within SanrioTown, even perhaps the Leaders of the Guilds, who can act as supervisors and assist GMs, look out for the wellbeing off all players and help preserve the integrity of HKO.

There’s already been some talk (I watch the chatbox!) about getting high, getting drunk and sex from various players and I don’t think HKO is the place for it. Am I wrong? This place is perfect for predators…

As an adult and Hello Kitty fan since 1979, I choose to come to SanrioTown & HKO precisely to get away from the daily grind and the harsh realities of life.

I think players will agree that just for a few hours all we want is to be able to enjoy the beauty & safety of the HKO environment, so why would any of us want to be subjected to that sort of ugliness? And why should our under aged players have to deal with it?

I think this is something the HKO Developers really need to consider especially since Hello Kitty is an Ambassador for Children. This issue must not be ignored nor delayed.

I would really like to see something like this put into motion as soon possible!

I logged in about 8 p.m. and wasn’t sure where I’d left off from 2 nights ago… I’ve been sick and although Hello Kitty has calling my name, I just wasn’t able to keep my eyes open long enough to think about game-playing.

So I missed 2 nights in a row which gave everyone else in my Guild the opportunity to finish certain quests and level up their character. Me, I’m still at level 12 with practically no money, no cooking or no sewing experience and can’t farm a darn strawberry to save my life! EmbarrassedThinking

I spent most of my time last night chatting…Me! Chatting! That’s funny considering I’m not a very chatty person. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll watch the chatbox and every once in a while throw in my 2 cents or make a humorous comment, but I not one for long-winded conversations. Last night was different. I think I spent the first 2 hours chatting away with whoever wanted to listen! Chatterbox

screenShot2Then I got to thinking: I have to get me some gold to buy the stuff I need; I have to do some gathering & lumbering until I get to level 5; and I have to get me a better wand to zap those crazy monsters!!! So I went back to Sanrio Harbor and spent a good hour raising my skill and selling the items to make some money. Tiring, yes! Necessary, yes! Successful, YES!

By midnight, I was able to get me a level 4 axe & scissors, able to complete Purin’s Mama quest and the Crystals for the Temperature Reports. This may not sound like a lot, BUT I’m working on a laptop w/o a mouse!!! And, I want to try to complete as much of the game as possible without having to beg for item from my fellow Misfits! {although they willingly share items with everyone!}

In the meantime, I’m trying to figure out how to collect the items for that Hungry Croc at the Harbor! Hahahahaha

I guess that one will take a while since some of the items require farming (I think) and I don’t have a green thumb whatsoever! (still in need of strawberries!)

This is what he’s asking for:

screenShot1

  10 oat biscuits
  10 tangerine drinks
  21 roasted veggies
  20 corn
  15 salvia biscuits
  20 roots
  10 sweet potatoes

Que Sera Sera! Let’s see I can accomplish tonight!

Woo Hoo! What a night!

The game is getting a little more complex and quests are more challenging (and time consuming) LOL

I was able to get to London which was a real victory for me, because I’m not used to playing games on a laptop… So you can imagine trying to zap monsters and having to run away but not quite knowing how to maneuver my fingers on the touchpad!!!

Yeah! It was crazy-funny!

982477uqvc9qzqub

But despite the craziness, I was able to go up two levels and get some new clothes for better defense against monsters. I completed only 3 of the endless quests (still scratching me head), and had a chance to try my hand at farming! {NO strawberries for me…! I killed the poor babies}

I had a good time and I remembered to capture some screenshots.

Here I am “lounging”… actually, being still helps replenish Energy or HP.

Here I am again, trying to recover my Health Points. (look at the pretty colors!)

This is Us, Misfits (my Guild buddies) hard at work!!! hehehehe  Don’t tell Mr. Awesome I said that! LOL

If you’re already playing this Beta and would like to join a guild, come and have a look at the Misfits! We help, we joke around, and we have a great buddy system!

chryssyMisfits

Last night I learned the importance of friendship and the incredible usefulness of belonging to a GUILD!

I belong to the Misfits and they’ve been so generous and wonderful I just couldn’t believe it! I guess one of the perks of belonging to a Guild means you get to help & get help from your fellow teammates! Oh, that’s soooo Hello Kitty-ish!!!

So I stayed online till almost 2 a.m. I was able get some new clothes, a cool wand & cash, all thanks to Loki! I was also able to finish the 30 pearls quest with the help of Arahxoxo who quickly donated 10 of those much needed pearls! Later HKera asked me if I was happy she invited me to Misfits, and I said with a big grin “I’m doing cartwheels!!!”

Some things to report about HKO:

  1. -those cute starfish are monsters, not potential pets! (LOL)
  2. -the lost pages from the book are still in my inventory (why do I still have ‘em? anyone want ‘em?)
  3. -if someone is trying to dig up crystals or pearls, don’t push ‘em out of the way to get them for yourself! (i saw it happen)
  4. -if you see a desperate call from a player for an item you have but don’t need, consider giving it to them (what goes around comes around)
  5. -hey, that thingy on your map that looks like a globe–guess what? It’s a Global Map! Duh! (it took me 2 days to figure it out!)
  6. -fill out your online profile and tell folks a little about yourself; it’s cool to make all sorts of friends!
  7. -check your Guild’s message board for updates, contests, and support!
  8. -look at your Guild mates’ blogs; many of them have quests & instructions on how & where to obtain things in the game.

BTW, did I mention that HKO is super sweet, cute and adorable? Yeah! It is…!

I am now using Windows Live Writer to post a few messages on 3 different blogs…

I’ve had several obstacles to overcome, one of which was figuring out how to log into my Sanriotown Blog using this weblog service.

I followed Ishida’s FAQ blog on how to use this application and after fooling around with it for nearly 2 days, I was finally able to login…

My first problem was getting Windows Live Writer to actually recognize my account and log me in. Apparently, I was using the wrong info for URL and username. It kept logging me into the SanrioTown Blog and not MY Blog… The username is not just your screen name on SanrioTown but your entire email (it would’ve been nice if they made that clear).

My second problem was that Windows Live Writer could not detect my blog’s theme, so it gave me a “blank” page to type on, which contained horizontal & vertical cells, much like a spreadsheet. This was extremely frustrating…!!! {still trying to figure how to type normally like I do in Word}

My third and probably not last problem is that Windows Live Writer will NOT save any of my drafts!!! Arrggghhh

So I quit working on my SanrioTown blog and decided to use Live Writer to post on my MSN Spaces account. I was able to log in right away, it detected my blog’s theme and posted my test page—- however, it was not able to save my draft locally on my hard-drive…

I understand this is a “beta” but I kinda expected more out of a Windows application. If you do all your work on Live Writer but cannot preview it before you post it on your blog, it’s a waste of time. If you can’t keep a draft of what you post, it’s also a waste of time.

Maybe I am the problem but I kinda doubt it since I’ve used pretty much every kind of posting method there is since 1997!!!

Maybe I’ll have another look through Ishida’s essays and see if I can’t locate my problem!
