I am now using Windows Live Writer to post a few messages on 3 different blogs…
I’ve had several obstacles to overcome, one of which was figuring out how to log into my Sanriotown Blog using this weblog service.
I followed Ishida’s FAQ blog on how to use this application and after fooling around with it for nearly 2 days, I was finally able to login…
My first problem was getting Windows Live Writer to actually recognize my account and log me in. Apparently, I was using the wrong info for URL and username. It kept logging me into the SanrioTown Blog and not MY Blog… The username is not just your screen name on SanrioTown but your entire email (it would’ve been nice if they made that clear).
My second problem was that Windows Live Writer could not detect my blog’s theme, so it gave me a “blank” page to type on, which contained horizontal & vertical cells, much like a spreadsheet. This was extremely frustrating…!!! {still trying to figure how to type normally like I do in Word}
My third and probably not last problem is that Windows Live Writer will NOT save any of my drafts!!! Arrggghhh
So I quit working on my SanrioTown blog and decided to use Live Writer to post on my MSN Spaces account. I was able to log in right away, it detected my blog’s theme and posted my test page—- however, it was not able to save my draft locally on my hard-drive…
I understand this is a “beta” but I kinda expected more out of a Windows application. If you do all your work on Live Writer but cannot preview it before you post it on your blog, it’s a waste of time. If you can’t keep a draft of what you post, it’s also a waste of time.
Maybe I am the problem but I kinda doubt it since I’ve used pretty much every kind of posting method there is since 1997!!!
Maybe I’ll have another look through Ishida’s essays and see if I can’t locate my problem!
