Ever wonder where the old saying that cats will stifle a baby to death comes from? That adage makes it sound like cats and babies have this silent, ongoing war that us adults don’t know about. I’ve often wondered where that all began, and recently, I’ve come across a photograph that could very well be the root of the problem:
See, sometimes you can’t rely on what your friends say. If they say one thing, it might not always be the proper - or smart - thing to do.
I mean, check out this cat:

See? Why would anybody - or anything - even want to try drinking out of the toilet??
Sometimes, I think my cat treats me the same way.

If you grew up during the eighties, there’s a huge chance you’ll know where this lol came from:

Here’s a clue: it involves a huge dog. And the name Falcor. No more clues.
Okay.
Firstly, the cat was having a nightmare. The fun thing about cats when they dream is that they don’t really show it in their expressions. They could be having something like this next photo

which looks a bit weird, but when the cat wakes up, it looks like this:

It’s generally believed that cats are actually sinister creatures with a pretty rough mean streak. I personally have a hard time believing this to be true, since I love cats. I don’t think I can live without cats.
But this photo kinda puts things in perspective:

What does, you ask? Why, this of course.
|
That is one very determined cat.
Well honestly. I’d be pretty mad myself if this happened to me. Wouldn’t you?

I’m an eighties kid. There are no two ways about it. And one of my favorite cartoons from that era just happens to be Thundercats, which, if I remember correctly, they’re making a movie adaptation (again) of, slated to come out in 2010 or so.
To which I can only reply:
