The new tv season is here so I am glad for that. I can’t wait for “Dancing with the Stars”. It’s starting off with a three night opener, yeah! Hopefully my daughter doesn’t have too much homework, so we can enjoy it together. It’s one of the few shows that the whole family can watch together. I’ve read online that there doesn’t seem to be any standouts this season (at least not yet). The good thing is last season a woman finally won again, and I’m happy it was an Asian as well. It was just beginning to seem that the same type of people were rising to the top in the compitition. Well, let’s see what the new batch of stars bring!
So I’ve been listening to some of Jesse McCartney’s new album for the past few days. I’ve already posted this on the boards, but I was really surprised to hear his new album “Departure”. The title fits because he has really grown both musically and age wise. No more bubble gum pop, in fact I think by his next album he will not be in the pop genre at all. I also recently downloaded the Duffy album. At first I thought her song “Mercy” was just alright, but I did think her voice had a unique quality about it. So one day I previewed the whole album and just fell in love with it. It looks like it’s becoming a trend of newer artists doing r&b type music, and I’m really glad.
I’m listening to more different kinds of music now, even though I’ve always had eclectic taste. Hopefully, this will also help me get in touch with my creative side as well. When I was younger I used to draw all the time, and then I felt too busy and just stopped. Now my daughter draws all the time, so she is really inspiring me. I thought the parents were supposed to inspire the kids!
Speaking of my daughter, she laughed so much when she found out about some of the songs on my mp3 player! Oh well, I’m still young at heart alright. Besides music is the universal language. Music crosses all racial and age boundaries :).
Well it seems that the damage from Hurricane Gustav could have been much worse. Thank goodness for that. Of course we still have to watch out for Fay, and Ike among others. I am trying to be thankful for things that I have instead on focusing on what I don’t. I’ve seen images on the news of devastation from Katrina, that still have not been fixed. This is aside from what happened during Gustav’s course. There are people still living in squalor, and I don’t think the government is doing enough. It’s very ironic that those who seemed to have the least to lose (as far as material possessions) were hit the hardest. Of course when you don’t have that many resources, your choices in life are more limited.
Changing gears now, I plan to blog about more cheerful things next time. I really appreciate the Hello Kitty community for giving us email and blog services free of charge. If I set up my own site, I will definately link this one to tell people about it!
