Here comes the International Peace Day on 21st. It is dedicated to peace, or specifically the absence of war, such as might be occasioned by a temporary ceasefire in a combat zone. It is a observed by many nations, political groups, military groups, and peoples. As John Lennon says “Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will live as one.”

Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) which is a parodic holiday invented in 1995 by John Baur (Ol’ Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap’n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon, who proclaimed as this day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with “Hello,” but with “Ahoy, me hearty!” So if you want to have a laugh with your friends for this occasion, you can always make some exercises for today with a little research on internet! Har Har.

This is a national holiday in Turkey to commemorate the victory in the Battle of Dumlupinar, the final battle in the Turkish War of Independence in 1922. Let us wish PataPata Peppy a happy birthday as he celebrates his birthday on August 27th! Peppy born is a  very curious little forest owl. One of his favorite hobbies is taking afternoon naps. He loves eating fresh cherries and his known talent is swooping and doing low-flying acrobatics, which make him the talk of the town. Too wit too woo!

Okay, finally something for the outsiders of the common hits us today. Are you a lefthander? Are you proud to be one? Then, come over! August 13 is designated International Lefthanders Day by Lefthanders International. It was first observed 13 August 1976. As its name suggests, it is meant to promote awareness of the inconveniences facing left-handers in a predominantly right-handed world. It celebrates their uniqueness and difference, who are from seven to ten percent of the world’s population. People who are left handed use their right brain, which appears to help in geometry, and related subjects. There also appears to be a connection between lefthandedness and intelligence. Means lefthanders rule big time! Ha!

Hello Sanriotown friends,

We would like to introduce you International Youth Day (IYD) which is an awareness day designated by the United Nations. The first IYD was on 12 August 2000. As with other political awareness days, such as Earth Day, the purpose of the day is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding an endangered demographic. Concerts, workshops, cultural events, and meetings involving national and local government officials and youth organizations take place around the world in honor of International Youth Day.
