Today is the day of western Easter on April 12th. Do you know the tale of two Easters? Why one faith and two celebrations take place? Easter is not only a movable holiday but a multiple one: in most years Western Christian churches and Eastern Orthodox churches celebrate Easter on different dates. This year, for example, Easter 2009 is celebrated on April 12 by Western churches and April 19 by Orthodox churches.

The formula for Easter—”The first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the vernal equinox”—is identical for both Western and Orthodox Easters, but the churches base the dates on different calendars: Western churches use the Gregorian calendar, the standard calendar for much of the world, and Orthodox churches use the older, Julian calendar. This story sounds a little bewildering but now you know why it has a simple formula but complicated interpretations! Dear sanriotown fans, between April 8th - 15th it is Passover which is a Jewish and Samaritan holy day and festival commemorating God sparing the Israelites when He killed the first born of Egypt, and is followed by the seven day Feast of the Unleavened Bread commemorating the Exodus from Egypt and the liberation of the Israelites from slavery.

As you know today is April Fools’ Day and we are not quite sure why this particular event happens to be on the same day of *cough* Badzt Maru’s *cough* birthday?! Oh dear Badzt Maru, sorry to say this but we can not think of a better joke than a little mighty penguin whose main virtue is to make fun of everything, happens to be born on April Fools day! Well, seems it is our turn now to mock you! Before you get angry with us, we would just like to say Happy Birthday to you!

Today is a laughing-stock event as it is April Fools’ Day. Fools’ day that is although not a holiday in its own right, is a notable day celebrated in many countries on April 1st. The day is marked by the commission of hoaxes and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, enemies, and neighbors, or sending them on fool’s errand, the aim of which is to embarrass the gullible. Ha!

The purpose of the day is to promote the reading, writing, publishing and teaching of poetry throughout the world and, as the UNESCO session declaring the day says, to “give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements.

Dear beloved friends, finally the season we are waiting for passionately is here officially on March 20th as this very day is considered the start of Spring at exactly 12.43 CET. Time to get warmer on the outside too!

The Southern Hemisphere welcomes fall as we welcome spring. The Earth is tilting so that for the next six months, the majority of the sun’s light will give its longest and most direct rays to the northern half of Earth. The word equinox derives from the French and means “equal night”. You will often hear that days and nights are equal on the equinox, only they’re not. They’re close. Check the sunrise and sunset times for where you live to find the exact point of equality for you and watch one if you have the chance.

Seems Hello Kitty can’t have enough celeb-buzz this season! After appearing on Lady Gaga’s cute hairbrush, perhaps in love with our beloved superstar, kitty lover Katy Perry showed up to the BRIT Awards last week, decked out in one of worlds’ favorite international celebrities - Miss Hello Kitty!

She looked radiant in her Hello Kitty corset. So fun! Constructed of satin, studs, leather and crystal, inspired by all things Rock and Roll, the costume is by The Blonds for M.A.C. Hello Kitty Couture Auction.

The “I Kissed A Girl” star posed with her trophy for Best International Female Solo Artist at the Brit Awards 2009, London, February 18. Congrats Katy!!
