Now a special day for one of our favourite Sanrio characters. It is the birthday of My Melody on January 18th. My Melody was born in the forest of Mari Land and she lives with her mother, father, grandmother and brother, Rhythm. She is honest and good-natured. Her favourite hobby is baking cookies with her mother and her favourite food is almond pound cake which she snacks on with her best friend, a mouse named Flat. Comes the midst of the month but no stop with the birthdays at all yet! Atchan ga Ichiban (means “Atchan is Number One!” in English) born on  January 15, 1995 celebrates his big day today.

Happy Birthday and on 17th it is the big day of a whole lot! A family of five cheeky little kittens. Meaow for Nya Ni Nyu Nye Nyon! Nya is the most grown up, Ni is crazy about marshmallows. Nyu likes milk, and is a little bit of a baby, Ne is the trendy one and Nyon likes to stir up trouble. Can you guess who is who? Please leave a message to them on the comments section!

Following the laughters of late, on 13th, it is Monkichi’s birthday. Monkichi’s full name means “Monkichi of the Mountains”, and that’s where he and his friends are from. He loves having fun and making puns! He lives for the moment, and he loves to perform in front of others, sharing stories and poems and trading jokes. Hi dream is to be a professional poet or comedian.

Oh and did you know? This little boy monkey that always stands by him holds the world record for banana speed-eating, reputedly going through 10 in less than a minute. Wow!

On January 11th, it is time to welcome one of the happiest day of the year, which essentially is a great way to start the new year too! World Laughter Day takes place on the first Sunday in May[1]. The first celebration was on January 11, 1998, in Mumbai, India, and was arranged by Dr Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement.

Laughter Yoga says: Laughter is a positive and powerful emotion that has all the ingredients required for individuals to change themselves and to change the world in a peaceful and positive way. The day is now celebrated all over the world. Time to laugh hard today! Haha!
