Riding on the wave of my previous link post, this next website has been a favorite of my friends, AY & MP, for awhile, so I thought I’d share it as well. Check out the following pictures from Passive-Aggressive Notes.com.

I gotta admit – there are quite the passive-aggressive notes posted everywhere in my work building. I’m gonna have to start talking pictures and sending them to the website. LOL.

I stumbled upon Engrish.com a while ago, but I forgot about it til I received an email from my dad with some hilarious pictures.

Frankly, I find these amusing just because the same thing has happened to us. I’ve seen a lot of people wearing shirts with kanji on it without knowing what it actually says just because it’s “cool.” They’re probably laughing at us too!

These images are from Engrish.com. Go check it out!

I know that I’m not the only one to get caught up in the mineral makeup “revolution.” Seems like every major cosmetics brand now offers their own version of mineral makeup.

Bare MineralsI think Bare Escentuals was probably one of the first to “revolutionize” with their bareMinerals line. I remember seeing their informercials all the time. They got me curious about them since I’m primarily not a makeup wearer at all because I don’t like the feel of it on my face. My friend, Jade, hit up Sephora and bought herself a starter kit. (Current online price: $59.98/$60 + s&h) I was more reserved and she swore up and down about how awesome it was. I tried it and was kinda underwhelmed by it. It made my face shiny…

Sheer CoverI did some research and found Sheer Cover. It offered similar promises that bareMinerals did, but at a lower price point of $29.95+ s&h for their starter kit. That appealed to me so I promptly ordered it online. I liked the goodies that came with the kit. They are plentiful and worth the $30 or so…

However, what turned me off from this product is its insistence that I join its “subscription club” where I am automatically sent a new Sheer Cover kit in a certain time period. Each additional kit costs up to $90, a far cry from the $30 I originally paid and I didn’t use the makeup enough to warrant a subscription so I left Sheer Cover and went searching for another mineral makeup provider.

One of the good things about working in a historical part of the city is the Ride the Ducks tour vehicles that pass by every so often. When the weather is nice, my friend and I typically eat our lunch outside in the park and we often see the Ducks ride by. It’s so fun seeing the families’ excitement about the whole touring experience and also their insistence on waving to everyone they see. Plus, you can’t count out that loud quack whistle that everyone seems to love blowing.

The cool thing about the Ducks is that it can travel both on land and on water. My friend has ridden it and has told me just how great it was. When my best friend, who lives in California, comes to visit, I’m thinking of taking her on the Ducks :)

When I travelled to Lucerne, Switzerland in April, we passed by this store called Lush, which drew out attention simply by the strong smell of its products and its signage talking about all-natural products. I ended up buying these:

Mange Too Massage Bar
Mange TooAfter a long, stressful day or just to smell fabulous, rub Mange Too massage bar into your skin and feel its moisturizing effects. We make it with honey, white chocolate and peppermint; and if that’s not enough we also add in mango butter and fresh bananas. It’s hard to resist eating, but even harder to put down. Prepare to be swept away to candy land while getting unbelievably soft, fragrant skin.

Sweet Japanese Girl cleanser
Sweet Japanese Girl cleanserSweet Japanese Girl facial massage and exfoliation bar is a do-it-all product. Its lovely butters hydrate the skin while juniper berry helps to clear pores and tea tree keeps bad bacteria at bay. The blackhead-blasting action of aduki beans and almonds is amazing. Just rub the edges of the bar on clogged pores and voila: clean, exfoliated skin without any soreness or dryness! Wash away with warm water on a cotton pad and tone with Tea Tree Water. Instant facial!

Heavenly Bodies Buttercream
Heavenly Bodies ButtercreamImagine taking orange juice, mixing it with a chocolate brownie, adding some mud, slathering it all over, and actually coming out clean. Well, that’s how this buttercream works. Its delectable ingredients make it a pleasure to use, but you’ll love it for how supple it makes your skin feel. Decadence knows no boundaries as you scrub your way to bliss.

I don’t have a Lush near me – the nearest was about an hour away – so when my family visited the Philippines I compiled a list of things I wanted from Lush. My mom brought me home: Read more »

Not really sure how many people are fans of Michael Phelps or Barack Obama or both. But, Michael Phelps will be hosting the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on this Saturday. It has also been announced that Barack Obama will make a “surprise” appearance in one of the sketches.

EDIT: Obama cancelled his appearance because of the Texas hurricane.

It is entirely possible that my film sensibilities are quite not up to par. LOL. My coworker let me borrow her DVD, The Triplets of Belleville. She and the other designer were raving about how good it was and how I was gonna love it.

Needless to say, I did NOT. LOL. There was barely any conversation and I just wasn’t a fan of the animation.

Guess I’ve been too spoiled by Miyazaki, Disney and Pixar…
