My friend, T, and her boyfriend recently purchased a house and she invited me and 2 others over on a Friday for a little gathering between friends. We haven’t seen each other in months so we had a lot to catch up on.

T, who LOVES scary stories, decided to tell us one of her own that had happened recently. Her neighbor across the street had recently lost her husband to diabetes, I believe.

Well, one day, T’s mom and niece, Laila, came over to keep T company when her boyfriend was away. When T’s mom was strapping in Laila into her car seat, Laila said, “Tell that man to stop staring at me!” But when T’s mom turned around, she saw no one. She told Laila that nobody was there, but Laila insisted, “The man keeps looking at me. Tell him to stop!” T’s mom didn’t think much of it and just thought that Laila was imagining things.

A few days later, T, her mom, and Laila were visiting her neighbor and Laila said to T’s mom, “The man is looking at me again! He’s crawling towards me! Tell him to stop!” Of course, T and her mom don’t see anyone there. When T’s mom tells her that this has happened before, it really freaked her out. Apparently, because of complications with his diabetes, her neighbor’s husband had to have his legs amputated, so it would make sense that he would be “crawling” towards Laila!

So of course, my friends and I are freaked out by all this. When we left T’s house later that night, we all left together and ran to our cars in a hurry without looking at the house across the street. I was so freaked out and my heart my beating really fast! I barely got any sleep that night! Needless to say, I don’t think I ever wanna go over her house by myself… EVER!

My friend put up a very long, insightful post about 2008 being a very tough year for her as she sent most of it struggling in various therapy classes to gain control over her eating disorder. It was very revealing and helped a lot of us understand her better, especially since we weren’t really sure how to help her.

My 2008 wasn’t quite as challenging or life-changing as hers, but it was a year that made me question a lot of things in my life and why nothing was falling into place. I think the transition out of college into the “real world” has finally hit me.

I hope 2009 is a much better year for her, me, and everyone else who felt that 2008 wasn’t their year…

I got this from my friend who lives in Pa. and I thought I’d pass it along:

This little girl lives down the road from me. I wanted to share the below with all of you. Many of the Volunteer Fire Companies in the area including Rothsville will be delivering cards to this young girl on Thursday evening. If you would like to send her cards her address is at the bottom of this email. Please feel free to cross post and share with your prayer groups and your Churches. thanks!!

This is the story of a 5-yr old Lititz girl, Hannah Garman, who was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, a rare and incurable brain tumor. She has been given 12 weeks to live and is currently in her 7th week. She was going to be the flower girl at a wedding in May, but was diagnosed a week after we asked her to be the flower girl. This is especially sad because her mother died 2 yrs ago from breast cancer.

Right now she has lost most of her motor skills. She is confined to bed and cannot really do anything or play with the gifts she is getting from people, but she LOVES getting cards - she has gotten so many from people she does not know and just loves to have grandma read about the people who send them and see their pictures and is so proud of all her cards. Her room is just filled with cards.

When asked what she wants for Christmas she said she wants to see how many Christmas cards she can get. Many people have passed this wish along to their churches, prayer groups, friends and family. There are school groups where children are making her cards. People are including pictures so she can see who it is that is sending her the card.

If you would like to help with her wish, you can send a card to her at:

Hannah Garman
704 Orchard Rd
Lititz, PA 17543

THANKS! Feel free to pass this along to your own prayer group, church, school, etc. Let’s see if we can have the cards coming in big postal bags for her this Christmas, since it will be her last holiday.

me.jpgI’ve been part of HKO’s Founder’s Beta for quite some time now. Haven’t really had a chance to talk about it. I’m Mango in the game and my avatar is on the left.

The game has been so much fun! I have met a lot of wonderful people – mostly from being part of Sailoria. The people in this guild have been so helpful and are generally just nice people. If not for their help, I would probably be wandering around Sanrio Harbour wearing a white tank top and torn jeans holding a wooden wand :P

I can’t believe it’s ending this week! Unfortunately, I won’t be around during the last day as I will be on my traditional New York shopping trip with some friends, so I won’t be able to say goodbye to everyone :(

See you all in Open Beta!

I went to DC last Saturday to visit the International Spy Museum with my coworker and her friend. Flash photography and video recording was not allowed so I snuck in some cell phone pictures instead ^_^ Enjoy!

Upon entry, we were told to pick an identity and to remember all the details about that person. This is not a requirement, but it adds a fun element to the entire experience, I think. I picked the alias below because I related to her a lot more than the others. I’m pretty good at remembering details so I was kinda confident in my ability.

Maria Rivera

After we picked our new identities, we watched a brief video about spies and spying. Very interesting, I might say. Then, we enter the room with the first exhibit. There was a computer that tested you in your knowledge of your alias to see whether you will be able to enter the country of your “assignment.” Fortunately, I was able to “enter the country” without suspicion and then given further details about my mission. (I did not get a picture of this because there was a line of people behind me…)

Here are some pictures…

Not really sure how many people are fans of Michael Phelps or Barack Obama or both. But, Michael Phelps will be hosting the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on this Saturday. It has also been announced that Barack Obama will make a “surprise” appearance in one of the sketches.

EDIT: Obama cancelled his appearance because of the Texas hurricane.

I saw an advanced screening of Tropic Thunder last night. I’ve been to advanced screenings before, but never to one where a studio executive was actually there. Apparently, they wanted to see our reactions to the movie and what we had to say about it. It’s a Ben Stiller movie and reminded me of Zoolander in that many celebrities made cameos playing themselves in it. LOL. Tom Cruise’s “makeup” kinda freaked me out. He was SOO hairy! Overall, it’s definitely a fun and funny movie. But if you’re looking for a movie with thought-provoking plot and dramatic acting, this isn’t it.
