I know that I’m not the only one to get caught up in the mineral makeup “revolution.” Seems like every major cosmetics brand now offers their own version of mineral makeup.
I think Bare Escentuals was probably one of the first to “revolutionize” with their bareMinerals line. I remember seeing their informercials all the time. They got me curious about them since I’m primarily not a makeup wearer at all because I don’t like the feel of it on my face. My friend, Jade, hit up Sephora and bought herself a starter kit. (Current online price: $59.98/$60 + s&h) I was more reserved and she swore up and down about how awesome it was. I tried it and was kinda underwhelmed by it. It made my face shiny…
I did some research and found Sheer Cover. It offered similar promises that bareMinerals did, but at a lower price point of $29.95+ s&h for their starter kit. That appealed to me so I promptly ordered it online. I liked the goodies that came with the kit. They are plentiful and worth the $30 or so…
However, what turned me off from this product is its insistence that I join its “subscription club” where I am automatically sent a new Sheer Cover kit in a certain time period. Each additional kit costs up to $90, a far cry from the $30 I originally paid and I didn’t use the makeup enough to warrant a subscription so I left Sheer Cover and went searching for another mineral makeup provider.
