Things that I collect

Like a lot of people, I like to collect certain things. But instead of collecting Disney or Pokemon, I seem to have rather a odd collecting bent.

One of the things I like to casually collect is coins from various places. But the catch is they have to be real coins that were in circulation. For these I don’t go for the “near mint” or “mint” condition coins. I do collect American Silver Eagles, which are in mint and/or un-circulated condition, but that’s a different story.

I have some German Marks, some Austrian Schillings. I’d like to get some others, but here is the most recent thing: a Soviet coin. It’s marked 1917-1967, in celebration of “50 glorious years of the revolution”.

But now for the weird part. Can you guess what this is?

They were advertised as Soviet-era “atomic bomb glasses”. I dunno if they really are, but they are Soviet. It looks like it is dated 1990, so that would be “really late, death gasping Soviet-era”. I suspect they’re just the glasses part of a gas-mask.

I feel like a character from Fallout 3.

Heh, the gl@sses reminded me of that scene in Terminator 2 when John Connor told T-1000 not to kill people and he scanned the area.:P Collecting coins isn’t odd, I know some people who do that too.^_^

I really like those glases/googles, I also collect coins even though I don’t consider myself a coin collector. I have almost all of the 50 states quarters. I have 2 of the (District of Columbia and United States Territories Quarter Program) 2 different dolar coins, nickels/penny with different stuff on the back, lots of tokens and some coins from Canada, etc.

Where is the pic of the coin from US??
