So yea, I know I just recently posted a foodie blog, but that really didn’t count, since it was a special event :P

I love barbecue, but it’s hard to get “good” BBQ here in NJ. Of course, “good” is totally subjective, so I’ll compare it to Texas BBQ. I’ve tried Carolina BBQ before, but bleech. Vinegar should be a flavor enhancer, like salt. It shouldn’t be an overpower taste of the dish. And when we were in NC, we went to “the best BBQ joint”, so I don’t think it was just bad BBQ. But what’s a born-n-bred Yankee know about BBQ anyways?

Doesn’t matter, but I do know what tastes good. These guys are literally right down the street from me. I could honestly walk there. But I’ve only eaten there three times, and each time has been for take-out. Why is that? Well, one of these days I’ll have to go there for sit-down.

This is a sliced brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans (in the big tub) and some sort of sauce (in the little tub). There was so much meat that I had to take a little bit off. And I used the sauce as a dipping sauce; I didn’t just pour it over the sandwich. The beans taste like real slow-cooked beans with bacon. And for take-out, this is a very nice presentation. Which, IMO, is a significant component of any meal.

And you know, I’m posting so much foodie blogs lately, I wonder if that’s all anyone thinks I do? Not really :P But until something happens with HKO, I won’t subject you to those other hobbies, but if you’re interested, they are right under your nose :P Notice how I keep throwing HKO out there, hoping that maybe a GM will swing by and say something like “hey good news”? Sigh.
