Moving day

This week, I was told to move my desk. So I spent the latter half of the day moving my desk. The early part of the day was spent on diagnosing a failed Internet proxy. Don’t you just love modern technology?

Out with the old…

In with the new…

Yeesh, that’s gonna take the rest of the week to sort out.

I don’t mind moving. I moved away from Typhoid Sneezy (who is probably the most unhygienic person I’ve ever met) to a bit more private area.

When you move, you always find interesting stuff. Can you guess what this is?

That’s a punched card. I love old technology like this. If you ever think about it, they flew to the moon using technology that we would amaze us in its simplicity. I found a couple of reel-to-reel tapes, but I won’t subject you to pictures of those. You can probably see them in any old 60’s sci-fi movie where they use computers.

But more modern, can you guess what this next is?

These are the magnets out of hard drives. If you’ve never taken a hard drive apart, it is fun and entertaining. I’m being serious. These are super strong magnets, you could probably hurt yourself with these. We have lots of hard drives, and we can’t just throw them out. We need to DOD-erase them, or shred them, and we’re too cheap to do either, so they sit around collecting dust. Until I grab a few and start to dismantle them. You can also get the platters, which make great mirrors, or objects d’art. I don’t have an image of the platters.

And I found this in my filing cabinet.

One day, I was bored, and just started fitting spare parts together in any manner they could fit.

And at work, I pay $5 to belong to the so-called “coffee” club. Since most of the time there does not seem to be any supplies, I end up bring in my own sugar and creamer. I like sugar cubes because they’re really convenient. But I never noticed this before…

198 cubes? I mean couldn’t they just give me the last two and make it an even 200?

Finally, there was a casualty…

I lost his ears somewhere.
