I’ve had Momoiro for almost 2 weeks, & I see now that he’s a fiery little guy! He’s a bit younger than Bubbles, but I’m not sure if that has anything to do with his spunkyness. Their tanks are right next to each other, so generally I’ll keep a piece of paper between them to keep them from stressing themselves out.

When I do move the paper, Momo is usually the 1st to notice (or care at all.) He flares and gets all agitated at the sight of Bubbles. Eventually Bubbles will return the show, but then quickly retreat to the far side of his tank.Momo seems to be quicker, “zippier” if you will. I’m not sure if this is because he’s a crowntail (versus Bubbles veiltail) or because he’s about 3-4 months old while Bubbles is pushing almost a year. Pet store Bettas are about 3-5 months old when sold at the store.
So I don’t know if Bubbles is just old & doesn’t want to take crap from his youngin’ neighbor, or if he just isn’t the alpha male of the 2. Either way,Bubbles has bragging rights on having a pimp tank.

They’re Bettas. AKA Siamese fighting fish http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siamese_fighting_fish
Bubbles is a veiltail & Momo is a crowntail
