If you’re sick of seeing your CPU grind away at 100%, howling fans, laggy browsing and overall unresponsiveness thanks to HKO, then this might be good news for you:

This nifty little program is called BES. You can get it here: http://mion.faireal.net/BES/

What it basically does is limit how much CPU usage a single program can grab. As you can see in the screenshot above, I set HKO to 50%. It still runs fine now, but by how much you can limit it depends on your hardware of course.

Using the program is very straightforward. Extract the .zip file and run the BES.exe. Click the Target button and pick HKO.exe from the list. Click Limit this. If you want to catch HKO every time you run BES, click Limit/Watch instead.

After selecting HKO.exe you can use the options under Control… to adjust the CPU usage. (If you doubleclick anywhere on the background you can load your own image.)

That’s all. Enjoy your freed CPU cycles!

Last week my graphics card died, and with no shop around that still sells AGP cards, I had to order one.. and wait ;o;.

All of this could’ve been avoided, though. The random reboots, card not starting, random rendering lag and bugs as well as the howling fan were a dead giveaway. Well, that’s what I get for procrastinating.

Yep, that’s a needle stuck in an (unused!) earplug, mounted on a plastic chip, resting on my never used TV card, keeping the fan from jittering around.

With computer rooms at the university being either occupied, full of loud idiots or simply without the proper software, I was more or less forced to take a timeout. Now I’m even further behind with my thesis schedule, leaving my days even more, er, filled with actionscripting and general flashing!

Speaking of flashing..

Eargh! One of the worst bugs in FB! I applied some basic censoring to protect innocent relatives and your eyes.

The flasher is attempting to flee after satisfying his dirty fetish, but not before I managed to get a mugshot. Meanwhile, the green-clad pimp remains unfazed. Might there be a CONNECTION?!
