July 29-30: Allergies
If you guys don’t know me that well, then you don’t know that I’m allergic to lobsters! D: And shrimps, and then crabs as well!
So I was full of rashes the next day and I didn’t want to go to school looking like that lest I inspire fear in the people around me.
I wrote my prof an email:
Hi Sir!
I’m not sure if you’ll get this before class. I woke up at 6 this morning with my face all swollen up. I ate lobster last night but then just a tiny bit! As in, like…. 2 bites? Or maybe even 3. So I didn’t bother drinking antihistamines cause I can usually stand small amounts. So I slept it off thinking that it will be better around this time. Erm. It got worse. I have full blown rashes all over my body. It’s not just plain red rashes — it even swells a little. Plus my face is still swollen. I might scare people if I go to class :c (That actually happened to me in grade school — my teacher reprimanded me for going to school sick. She probably thought it was chicken pox!) I’m sorry sir! :c (I have pictures to prove it too — just in case! :c)
Yours sincerely,
Tiffy
I slept it off again and drank two doses of antihistamines. I woke up and then went to school for my 11:30 class (I got to school 12:30).

Ouch!
I used to be allergic to chocolate. My parents bombarded my with white chocolate when I was a kid, then bit by bit gave me the regular ones until my allergies disappeared.
We did the same for my shrimp / crab allergy. I do get swollen lips from time to time, but that’s just about it.

LOL. Wow, that’s some cure! XD I’ll try to eat as much shrimp or lobster as I can to try to “cure” myself!

If you will eat shrimp and lobster, make sure they’re always fresh.
August 24th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Does that lessen the chance of getting an allergy? XD

I don’t think so… take care!

Next time take antihistamines, just to be sure.

For me it does. Hehe. I used to have a lot of allergies and asthma. Even chicken is bad for me. Eventually my body developed it’s own tolerance. If you think you’re missing a lot from not eating, it’s best to strengthen yourself and not be dependent on medicine. Remember, moderation. Eat a little at first. Response varies in different people, we don’t want you to get hurt.

I’m allergic to crab too! It’s not the kind of allergy that’s ever going to go away either. One time I touched a king crab leg with 2 fingers, and my entire hand started itching.
Still, I found that immediately rubbing lemon juice on the hand stops the itching, but I can never eat those foods.

TOUCHING IT? You get allergies by merely touching the thing? Nyikes!

Yea! I guess I’m super allergic to crab, but I can eat shrimp. Not lobster though. It’s so wierd.
