Day 3: Semi Rant
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008This is the last of the trilogy (which really isn’t much).
Group leaders with our disciplinarian, Laddee
We went to Mall of Asia to ask for donations. Hundreds of us. Wearing blue uniforms. Shouting and asking for donations for the victims of the China earthquake and the Myanmar cyclone.
To which one guy commented, “You Chinese are already so rich and yet you ask money from us?”
This was what I was afraid of. I wanted then and there to debate with the guy. Hasn’t he thought that of course, we’ve already donated? And that going to MOA isn’t for us? The money doesn’t go to us — it goes to the victims. And it’s to give people like him an opportunity to help out.
All of us watch TV and think: poor guys, they don’t have a place to live in, so few to eat, no anything. And yet, when opportunity presents itself, you poison it with your poop?
Pardon me for complaining.
Actually, we have this new thing. Every time someone complains, someone says to him, “Bless you.”
Really cute. Heh. Making the person not complain without appearing rude.
