Nothing much to blog about really.  That’s why I had been quiet for awhile.  La dee dum dee dah.

My husband and I are preparing for our Honeymoon.  I really can’t say its a honeymoon because we’ll be visiting relatives.  So technically, we won’t be alone that much like all the honeymooners are doing.  I’m not complaining at all.  It would be nice to see those familiar faces.  I guess this is me saying that I might not be blogging for awhile.  But will try to document where we are if I can get my hands on a computer.

Tah tah! (flying kisses!)

There’s this book that is out now that is literally taking a new approach to reading experience.  It’s a mesh between “Spy Kids” and “Da Vinci Code” for kids.  (What can I say I’m a kid at heart) Anyhoo, I like the way they make this into an interactive book by combining game cards, the book itself and logging online to the website.  Not only you explore more of their world but also you get to know some facts of historical figures.  Curious about this book?  Check out to know more about it.

Finally! I’ve finished the 4th book! I was a bit peeved that I wasn’t able to finish it earlier because of all the distractions. Like just the other day when I was suppose to read the book, then the lights went out. And it took some time before the lights came back. >_> Then there’s work, and then the play. So basically, I don’t have much time to squeeze in some reading. Tomorrow I can finally hand the 4th installment to my sister to read, she finish booked 3 yesterday.

Made some sushi earlier for our Dice Game in my Mom’s home. It always take a lot of time to make sushi so when I do make em’, I make lots! Got some help from my very sic Frog, my niece and the help who likes eating sushi too! ^^

“Making California-Maki”

“My niece helping me roll some Futo-Maki.”

“Haven’t perfected the California Maki yet.”

“Something different, Kimchi Sushi.”

“It took me almost 2 hours to make this little babies, Tamago. The center one are Tamago with Nori.”

We do the Dice Game annually. Usually with my family and my sister’s friends. So this year, our latest addition to the growing players is my Froggy. We had decided to do pot luck hence the sushi as my contribution. The prizes are usually food, and money. Before it used to be things and other stuff. But came the later years, they decided that money prizes are more practical. We didn’t get to win much this year but good enough that we were able to get back what we paid for. Not bad eh?

The first time I learned of “West Side Story” was when I was in my early teens.  My sis in law rented a laser disc of the musical.  (I know laser disc! Now you probably can gauge my age he he he) I was fascinated with all the song and dance numbers.  I love the song “Tonight” and “A Time for Us” best.  Some of the livelier songs that I enjoy would be “Only in America” because the dance number that came with it was pretty much exciting.  I know it is more on interpretative dances.  Which I think kids nowadays would think it’s corny and would probably get bored by it.

My Mom got some tickets for the stage presentation of the musical.  So the Frog and I went with her.  Though Froggy didn’t know that he is the only guy to come along  LOLS!   I think it is cool of him because at least I can tell everyone that my husband went and watched the play with me.  (Wub u Froggy)  Anyhoo, the local stage presentation was not to my liking.  I was expecting a lot, probably because the lead is quite a popular singer.  Don’t get me wrong, he is not really that bad.  I just think that they should have cast another singer for the role.  As for Maria, if she sang the songs in her natural voice and not too operatic I think it would have work.  My sister who also went to watch the play said that there’s no chemistry between the two lead characters which I totally agree.  The supporting character “Anita” in my opinion stole the show.  She sang her songs loud and clear.  And she’s quite entertaining to watch.  Overall the play is so-so.

I am seriously in a marathon mode with this series.  My sister is already half way in book 2.  And I had just finished book 3 this early morning so I can pass it to her without breaking her stride.  As for my sis in law.  She just finished the 4th book in the wee hours of the morning so I can have it today.  We are so much into this reading race, that’s its kinda hilarious.  I told my sis in law to keep it quiet for the mean time with the plot so as not to spoil my book 4 experience.  And my sis is the same with us.  So my sis in law and I speak in hush voices as not to give away the rest of the plot. He he he he.  Though my sister claimed that she has Edward’s amazing hearing talent and that we should quit it. :)

My current eye state is not doing too well from all the crash reading.  I’m thinking that my grade would have up a notch if I had my eyes examined today.  Lacking sleep over a book is not recommended.

Based from my calculations, my sis will definetly want the 4th book in about one and a half to two days. That would at least give me some time to finish it.  This is sooo de javu, it’s like reading Harry Potter all over again.  LOLS!

 ”Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer.”

Finally finished “New Moon” though I still think Anne Rice’s vampires are more rockin’.  And yet still here I am reading the 3rd installment of the Twilight series.  Go figure.  I guess, I am curious as to how the events will unfold.  Plus, I don’t want to be left in the cave not knowing what the heck happened to the most read series in 2008.

After reading “New Moon” I’ve updated the Frog on what I had read.  Relaying to him the juicy parts.  And all he said is  “typical and predictable”.  This is coming from someone who reads a lot of graphic novels.

So I’m off again to read “Eclipse.”

“Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer.”

Everyone is a buzz with this new series that knocked off Harry Potter from the top best selling chart.  But seriously, we all do like a good vampire story.  Don’t we?  I’ve already got the whole series and honestly speaking I’m still reading “New Moon” for a couple of weeks now.  Pretty slow, I know.  My eyes just get tired so easily that I have to stop reading for awhile.

My sister in law whom had read the 1st book just the other day is already on the 3rd book today.  So I guess, I should also start racing with her.  Before I hear the spoilers!   *Hands covering my ears!*

Tried coaxing my Frog to read it.   Well he eventually did read the 1st book.  And didn’t like it one bit.  I guess it’s too girly for him.  Sorry Froggy.   But at least now I can say he read one fourth of the series! he he he.

So I’m getting off this computer to start my reading.  Who wants to get left behind?

 ”New Moon by Stephenie Meyer.”

This is our 2nd round to go to SMX for the Manila International Book Fair.  And yet we still got a bag full of books.  Seems like new books kept surfacing and some books just dropped off the face of the earth.  And others are not in their supposed place.  Talk about OCness!  He he he.  This time around I feel tired from looking, searching and rummaging.  Must be the bioflu I took earlier.  Anywhoo…after taking stock of our stash it’s time to cover them with plastic.  That’s my quirk though, covering it to preserve the prestine cover.  I just feel uncomfortable if I have to read a book without any plastic cover whatsoever.  Weird huh?

“Passed by Baywalk, nice sunny day.”

“Happy Mid-Autum Festival! A full moon at this time of the year signals the Mooncake Festival.”

The Frog and I are avid readers. We met during the Neil Gaiman book signing. Ok that’s not the topic of the blog today. That’s another long story. Anywhoo…the annual Manila International Book Fair has come! Naturally we had been abstaining to buy books this past weeks knowing that the book fair have more discounts and freebies on some purchases. Meee looovvvee freebiiieeesssss! *squee* (Down girl!) Ehem!We could spend hours in this fair. Browsing through all the shelves. Talk about kids in a candy store. That’s how I feel. He he he. Got a few good buys out of it too. (My Shelfari will definitely be updated with my new finds *wink wink*) Some for just a hundred pesos (still brand new) and others with 20% discounts like in National Bookstore and Power Books. I wonder why Fully Booked didn’t join in this year nor the last. They usually carry a lot of graphic novels which my husband loves. In the end, the Frog carried 2 bags full of books. And we plan to go back! Whoohoooo!

“Packed up my Hello Kitty Lemon Mint with me to the book fair.”

“Got this free admission ticket from my Mother-in-law. Thank you!”

“The venue: SMX near Mall of Asia.”

“A book lovers paradise.”

”New gadget from Time Life magazine to help children have a more interactive approach in reading.”

“Stanley Chi, creator of Chopsticks comics. I later found out that his the lil’ bro of my batchmate in school. O_o”

“The caricature that Stanley drew. Hmmmm.. Is that how I look like?”

”Feelin’ Japanesaaa..”

“I just thought that this book is funny. Don’t cha think so?”

”X marks the spot!”

“Help me grab this treasure chest!”

”Love this life size diorama of Juan Tamad.”

“The beautiful Maria Makiling.”

Cooking is my quality time with my husband.  So if his home early, you’ll see us in the kitchen slavin’ away for our dinner.  Though we’re no gourmet cooks. Tonight’s dinner is composed of salty fish rice, garlic button mushrooms and some left overs that needs to be consumed.  Nothing fancy right?

“My Hello Kitty apron makes me feel like a chef.”

On another note.  The Mooncake festival is almost here. Who can forget those dice games!!!  Aside from that, the Mooncake is also a sweet treat.  Ma is already baking up a storm with her delicious Mooncakes.  She does this yearly and give it to family, friends and relatives.  Yummmmmm.  Gave me a small box of mini mooncakes with special snowy white skin which is made from glutenous rice.  She usually experiment with different flavors.  The ones I got were Taro, Jackfruit, Green Tea and Green Beans.

“Oooops, there’s suppose to be 4 in a box.  Can’t resist and ate the Green Tea :P.”

“See how small it is, this is the Taro flavor.  Personally, I like the Green Tea and the Jackfruit better.”

Tomorrow is the start of the Manila International Bookfair in SMX.  This geek is definitely going dragging her geeky frog with her.  Or is it the other way around?
