Hello Kitty at Work

I added to my collection as well as cashed in a few loyalty cards for a Paperclip holder and a CD case; a new program started this month. I addition, I added a Hello Kitty and Kuromi one to my work cubicle collection. Thanks to this guy I am using my Hello Kitty back pack every day even at work. Now one can ask how I get away with having Sanrio items without major ridicule; my answer, I work in tech, engineers and we technicians are weird enough as it is. We do not put up Christmas lights, that would be too normal, no we hook them up to a few Phidget Relays and develop an application to synchronize them to music.

While at the store I notice a Kuromi and Chococat as big as my big kitty; this is going to be an after Christmas dilemma.

Anyway a little about me:

I am a late 40ish male out of
Portland Oregon. As well as all thing Sanrio and Furry fandom, I am interested in Republican Politics, Anime, Science Fiction and Classical Music as will at technology. I took up drawing because I wanted a hobby that doesn’t involve computers.

Why Hello Kitty, first she is 100% Antro and I am fascinated by the large assortment of plushies and collectables and Hello Kitty Online. Secondly, I was looking for items and memorabilia as a way to express my furriness in public, at home or at work. At issue is the dearth of anthropomorphic collectables and home furnishings and decorations In addition I am fascinated with Japanese culture being stationed in
Japan in the 1980’s. Finally, in joining the furry fandom I became more comfortable as a guy in collecting stuffed animals, many furries have an interest and hobby of collecting stuff animals. I know some who have created their own plushies, and some do for commissions. In addition, I am a sucker for pink and cute. One day I was looking at a Hello Kitty Plush left over from a long ago eBay campaign selling closeouts and thought why not. The rest was history.

Con Report Two Conventions in Thee Weekend in September PT2

This is the second part of my convention reports. The convention was Rainfurrest, an anthropomorphic fandom (Furry) convention held at the SeaTac Marriot Hotel form 18 through 20 September of this year. Like Kumoicon, I decided to by Big kitty everywhere and had taken pictures with various attendees. One other reason I took pictures with my Big Hello Kitty plush, was to avoid the clichéd “stop and pose” shots.

New Jobs and Conventions

I have not blogged for a while because I there was no new news until now.
I have a new job starting Monday. It going to be a hit on the wages but I will survive.
This means I will have a chance to attend some conventions. First up is a trip to the Sanrio store (double stamp Wednesday) to pick up a lanyard for my con badges and a wallet; I was putting off the wallet purchase to replace my old and falling apart one. One problem with using a women’s wallet is finding one that is a size of a billfold and one that can hold my stuff. Men’s wallets seem to hold more cards than women’s wallets. I also bough more sticks for the laptop.

The conventions I will attend:

Rainfurrest the furry convention at the Seattle Airport Marriott Sep 18-20 2009

I hope to see some of you (older fans) at Kunoricon or even at Rainfurrest. I will have my Hello Kitty backpack at both.

Hello Kitty Online: a SEA Odyssey

Originally I was not going to play the Singapore Malaysia founders beta but I am a bit impatient waiting for Aeria games to move to beta and release. Since the game is in English, I had no problem playing.

Downloading was a pain, it we ether using horribly slow peer to peer torrent, the technology is worst than old BBS protocols. Direct download problem was I get could not get a download with no CRC errors in the file. After somebody posted in smaller files I was able to download and install.

The SG/My version gave me a chance to sample the new changes to the game since the Happy Hearts event.

First I went incognito so I do not look like the ugly American. The clothing has a South East Asian look to them.

G-sales Grab Bags and Being A Male Fan

It has been a while since I had been shopping for kitty items, I had a little extra for selling on EBay and I was open to buy a few cheap items. Normally on Saturdays I do the Estate to EBay thing, like any fan I check Craigslist to see if any garage sales have any Hello Kitty items; one popped up so I added the sale to my route.

Last week, I packed up Big Kitty (it her turn to ride shotgun for the month) and found the Hello Kitty sale and pick a few sheets of stickers and a grab bag with a pin, looks like the Los Vegas version. I had to cut G-sale short so I could attend little fur meet Pioneer Place a down town mall, a fur meet is where we get together and share what is going on in our lives and a little art. Sometime we would go to a movie or go out to a meal. One of a good friend, knowing how much I like Hello Kitty gave me a Hello Kitty antenna ball. Unfortunately it was lost today when I brushed against a tree branch.

After the meet I checkout the down town Sanrio store and picked up a 10.00 grab bag, I got a bracelet, charm, a cup and bowl set , a Chococat purse and Panaappe purse wallet. I was hoping for plushies, trinkets and stickers. Still I got my money’s worth.

This week G-sale trip I decided to check out some new territory for me, Vancouver Saturday, Friday I stuck local and picked up this bag. I am using and hope some do not get the wrong idea. Personally I do not; I am a free spirit.

Saturday in Vancouver was a bust, I head home around 3PM and stopped over Sanrio grand opening and picked up some free paper fans and did the obligatory picture with Hello Kitty.

This brings a dilemma being a hello Kitty male fan: while Sanrio is mainly feminine there are many items like my bedding, car accessories and plushies I can have, collect and use, but there are things like women clothing and accessories I have no use or can not use because I am a male. Some because of function other simple it is physically impossible as a guy. A HK purse just will not work for me except to collect other example I can think of a few others like women panties, and um ah…. The (can’t mention this Sanrio product). Oh well I have some nice items for a swap at Hello Kitty Junkies.

Random Thoughts

Well it been a while, I am still looking for a job and dealing with some issues. It is spring and the start of the grange sale estate sale season. I do the g-sale to eBay thing; I do make a small profit from sales. You know you’re a Hello Kitty fan if you plan your g-sale route around sales that are selling Sanrio Items. (Guilty as charged).

Speaking of yard sales, I notice the reason many are selling Hello Kitty Items is their daughters has lost interest. This got me thinking, with many adults hello kitty fans, I am wonder how many are hello kitty fans from childhood, and how may became fans again on the rebound as adults.

I am playing around with Audacity, a free podcast recorder and editor, I am thinking in doing a Furry Podcast with more furry Conservative and Christian slant. One segment will be hello kitty news and Hello Kitty Hell today (what on the Hello Kitty Hell site) I al ready tried a test recording; I got a long way to go before going public.

HKO and my Trip

To start with I participated in the Happy Hearts events the start was very strange, I woke up in New York (where I left off) and noticed nobody home No players or NPC I felt I was in the movie I am Legend.

First thing was a trip to the Mall, while it was still open for a avatar makeover, all I need is to something about my eyebrows.

I participated in the Happy Harts events, like the Christmas event, I was not able to participate fully due to my low skill level. So I learned a few things like farming and got myself a pet. I am at the point I could now fully participate

I was glad Happy Hearts even was extended for a few days, the only problem it pushed the ending at the same time of Fan Convention Furry Fiesta I was attending. Thursday and Friday evenings noting at the convention interested me, so I played around on HKO but by Saturday there was 300 guest trying to use the network and things slowed down to dial up. It the convention along with slow speeds is why I could not participate along with my fellow Coffee Shoppe guild. I did manage to long on during the last 15 minutes to say goodbye. One funny thing was I never got disconnected, my client was still running and I could travel around but everything was frozen. I eventually locked the program when I tried to go in a portal.

Open to all on 14 Feb, Newbie City.

Last second, who is that strage girl who put her hand on me O.O .

As I said earlier I was attending a Furry convention and I brought along Travel Kitty, I bought here so I could have a Hello K itty with me while traveling (doing the Anime, Science Fiction Furry Fan Conventions) and she can fit in my back pack. The group shot of furry version of cosplayers known as fursuiters was probably a way to make up after the raccoon tried to eat Travel Kitty (Shinys not Food).

After the convention I took a side trio to
San Antonio to do some sightseeing. As well as a Hello Kitty Fan I have an interest in travel and Airliners, I use any excuse to fly.
