There has been a lot of chat on the forums about the “story progression” feature not actually turning off when turned off. Here is the temporary fix for PC users (I will post the Mac fix when it becomes available):

Hi All – I’ve seen many conversations popping up about our game feature called Story Progression and the fact that the option to turn it off doesn’t work. We’ve been investigating this and have found that the toggle is not doing what it was intended to do. We are working to address this asap but in the meantime there is a workaround for PCs.
For PC:
1) Find your game executable. It should be here: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
2) Create a shortcut on your desktop to the TS3.exe.
3) Right-Click on the shortcut and choose “Properties”
4) In the top line “Target:” go to the end of the line and add this tag –disablestoryprogression
5) From this point on you will need to run your game from this shortcut and NOT through your launcher.
So what the “Target” should look like is: “C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3.exe” -disablestoryprogression
There isn’t a work around for Mac at this time.
I realize this is a certainly not ideal but it will address the issue while we are working on a real fix.
I also want to mention that there are a few events that can still occur even if story progression is completely off.
- Any pre-made pregnant Sims will still have their babies.
- If Aging is on, Sims will still die.
- As YOUR Sims get new jobs, other Sims in the neighborhood may have their careers reassigned to become your boss or co-workers.
Thanks so much for your patience.
- Lyndsay
So there you have it, for those of you who are wishing to turn it off.
I was finally able to make the video for you explaining my solution to the issue where blog paragraphs are not spacing correctly. Read the old post here and watch the video via Viddler below!
I now have an icon for my blog that I made myself using a picture of Charmmy Kitty!

If you’d like to learn how to make one for your own blog, follow the really great guide guide posted here!
Tohomiko_K, a site admin over at the Hello Kitty forums, made a fantastic post listing the blog tutorials that have been made in the past. You might want to check it out if you’ve been having difficulty posting on your blog, would like to brush up on your skills, or are interested in some tips and tricks to make blogging easier.
Every once in a while, a blog will forget how to space your paragraphs the way you want them to be and will come up with its own rules. This can become very discouraging to writers who would like their blog to look exactly the way they like. Thankfully, if you know how to write the code for what you want to do, you can manually fix the error and your blog will look the way you want it without driving you crazy!
The first thing I recommend is you write the content for your blog, then hit “publish” like you normally would. (As seen below.)

After doing that, read your post to see if it is spacing your paragraphs correctly. If it is then you don’t need to worry about the rest of the steps, but if it isn’t then you will need the code to tell the blog to insert a space (which can happen once in a while sadly, as seen below).

In order to place the code correctly, you need to click on the “code” tab (this tab is underneath your title and beside the tab labeled “visual”). And then every time you come to the end of a paragraph, type in
and where the space is missing type in
. It should look exactly like this (I’ve highlighted the entered code):

Now you can write your posts without having to leave the spaces between your paragraphs out! In the future, I would love to do a video tutorial so that my instructions can be more clear. Look for it in a future post in 2009!
Update: I made the video! View it here!
I find that the wiki pages available for games that are played offline or online are extremely helpful. They often provide tutorials to learn from, event history, lore, and other interesting and helpful things.
Cannot find what you’re looking for? Perhaps you should try doing research on your topic and post about your findings so everyone can learn along with you! Want to correct someone’s error? You can edit articles to correct mistakes!
Be sure to keep an eye on this wiki if you intend on playing Hello Kitty Online!

Yay! Very, very helpful for those that need to make notes all the time but never seem to have paper and a pen handy.

If there is anything I learned from being creative in virtual online worlds, it’s that video tutorials are a very helpful tool when attempting to dive into new skills.
