Happy Hinamatsuri Hello Kitty!

 

Today is Hinamatsuri or Dolls Day (aka Girls Day). Hina means doll and matsuri means festival by the way. It’s always on the 3rd day of the 3rd month. In Japanese households you may see exquisite dolls representing the Emperor and Empress and their court on a red stair-like display. They’re all dressed in the traditional dress of Heian period.

A pink dolphin!

The dolphin’s “stunningly pink” color is the result of albinism, which is indicated by its red eyes as well as its pink skin. Don’t worry, the dolphin is totally healthy. He’s just pink!
